Abstract
This paper proposes methods for improvement electrical grounding systems performance. There is a intense need for efficient electrical protection systems, to protect people and property against electric currents discharges, thus adding improvements to electrical grounding systems already in use. Based on this principle, this work is divided in: i) soil resistance values variation, due to different materials used to encapsulate the electrical grounding mesh altering soil properties; ii) different soil resistance values obtained by studying each proposed material. Values were obtained through field measurements utilizing a geoelectric method. Results display the efficiency in encapsulating electrical grounding systems and resistance value changes according to each material used. In addition, is possible to notice, from obtained data, the non linearity of non encapsulated Eletrical grounding mesh, as well as the efficiency of some material.
