Abstract
Indonesia is a country with abundant renewable energy resources including the solar energy. It is usually utilized by using solar panels as a means of conversion into electrical energy. Until now, solar panel technology has been developed to increase its efficiency, but although solar panels typically only have a 20-30% efficiency. Apart from solar panels, other components, such as the peltier element (thermo electric cooling), can be also utilized to convert solar energy into electrical energy. The solar energy used is the heat energy received by the roof of the house or other metal objects and then converted into electricity using a peltier. Peltier is known as an active solid state component that can transfer heat or cold for use by other devices. By providing a temperature difference on both sides, a peltier can generate a certain amount of electrical energy. This study aims to design and build a prototype of a thermal power generator using the Seebeck Peltier effect. Research and Development (R&D) is applied as a method to carry out all stages of the research including thermal power generator construction design, circuit design and analysis, and efficiency calculations.
