Abstract
The characteristics of a novel rectangular patch with an offset F-shaped probe are investigated. The patch height is approximately 9% of the designed wavelength. An impedance bandwidth of 36% and an average measured gain of approximately 5 dBi can be achieved for the first dominant mode. There is an additional higher order mode band, which extends the overall impedance bandwidth to 64% and provides an average measured gain of approximately 3 dBi.
