Abstract
We present an FSS-based printed radome demonstrator which is used to orientate a patch antenna radiation pattern in 5G applications. The FSS-based pattern is printed onto a plastic hemisphere dome surface by using a jetting piezoelectric technology. The proposed pattern is made of two different unit cells: one is used to reflect radiation waves of the antenna, and the other allows radiation waves of the antenna to pass through. By combining these two types of unit cells, the radiation direction of the antenna can be adjusted. Measurements show that the main radiation direction of the antenna has been adjusted 30 degrees away from the original radiation direction.
