Abstract
A new digital real-time simulator for FACTS (flexible AC transmission systems) has been developed. The MATLAB/SIMULINK, which can realize flexibility of some real-time models, is applied as software for the model construction. This simulator is connectable with some commercial power systems' real-time simulators. This paper describes the modeling of STATCOM and SSSC for the real-time simulator using SIMULINK. The validity of the calculation accuracy of SIMULINK models and the real-time calculation in a 50 /spl mu/s time step is presented. It is confirmed that model calculation accuracy is high by comparison with off-line simulation results using EMTDC.
