Abstract
A novel optically transparent reflectarray based on indium tin oxide (ITO) material is proposed in this paper. The reflectarray is composed of an ITO patch, two quartz glass substrates, and an ITO ground. By introducing an air gap between the quartz glass substrates, multi-layered hybrid dielectrics are formed, reducing the high conductor loss of the ITO material. The element employs a combination of the “single-resonance mode” and “multi-resonance mode” to achieve a broader range of phase variation. At the center frequency of 20 GHz, the proposed reflectarray element owns a reflection loss of less than 1.8 dB and a phase variation of 494°, and the reflectarray can achieve a gain of 24.4 dBi.
