Abstract
The mid-continent area power pool (MAPP) composite system reliability working group (CSRWG) and its predecessors have collected outage data for US bulk transmission equipment of 230 kV and higher since 1977. Pool-wide MAPP-US performance statistics are computed and reported annually. MAPP member utilities apply these statistics to system performance, operations, maintenance and planning. This paper presents features of the MAPP transmission outage data collection system, selected outage statistics for the 1991-2000 period and applications of outage performance statistics by MAPP utilities.
