Abstract
The flexible combination of motoring and braking modes of switched reluctance drives can be used for qualitative control of the various machines and mechanisms. This type of electric drive with SRM significantly differs from drives with traditional electric machines both in construction and control. In the paper the braking mode control system design features of a SRD are considered. For that a novel algorithm for direct control of instantaneous torque is proposed. The transients of electrical and mechanical drive variables during commutation of adjacent phases are analyzed. The effectiveness of the proposed control approach is proved with a simulation model. Additionally, factors impacting the accuracy of the control technique at high speeds are analyzed.
