Abstract
Basing on both experimental and calculated data, the radiation-stimulated losses of scintillation efficiency in long-size CsI(Tl) crystals are shown to be caused by at least two physical mechanisms. There are the transparency decrease in irradiated crystals on the emission wavelength and a decrease of the luminescence efficiency due to coincidence of hole color centers absorption bands with the luminescence excitation spectrum of CsI(Tl). Therewith, the latter mechanism is turned out to be prevailing one.
