Abstract
Due to a number of reasons, including poor nutrition, limited access to healthcare, and cultural beliefs and behaviors, high-risk pregnancies are an important health issue in India. The literature on high-risk pregnancies in India is thoroughly reviewed in this paper that details the frequency of high-risk pregnancies, the causes of them, and how they turn out.Medical disorders such gestational diabetes, hypertension, and anemia are the most prevalent variables associated with high- risk pregnancies, which have a highprevalence in India. Preterm birth, low birth weight, and neonatal death are more prevalent in high-risk pregnancies compared to low-risk ones.In order to decrease maternal mortality and morbidity, this study emphasizes the importance of expanding access to high-quality antenatal care and competent delivery services in India for women who are at high risk of complications during pregnancy.Enhancing mother and child health outcomes in high-risk pregnancies necessitates the adoption of a multidisciplinary framework, encompassing the collaboration of policymakers, healthcare professionals, and communities. This strategy aims to tackle the fundamental factors contributing to high-risk pregnancies and to deliver suitable treatment and management strategies.
