Abstract
The complexity of geological characteristics and the depth of exploitation are the most difficult points to overcome in today’s oil and gas exploration. Due to the increasing difficulty of reservoir identification, there is a growing necessity for new methods that can produce more accurate time-frequency (TF) results to be introduced into the seismic signal processing field. In this manuscript, multisynchrosqueezing transform (MSST) used in fault signal analysis is employed in the field of seismic signal analysis. MSST utilizes an iterative reassignment strategy that can increase the amplitude of instantaneous frequencies (IF) in the spectrum and sharpen their trajectories to obtain time-frequency results (TFR) with better energy concentration and resolution through conducting successive synchrosqueezing transform (SST) operations. Application on synthetic signal and field seismic data prove MSST’s excellent performance in terms of time-frequency resolution compared to conventional time-frequency analysis (TFA) methods. Meanwhile, the experiment results of extracting highlight volumes, MSST provides higher accuracy and more detailed reservoir localization information than the other three methods. All these advantages of MSST undoubtedly can better serve researchers working on seismic interpretation.
