Abstract
This paper presents a four-element MIMO antenna for WiFi, WiMAX, WLAN, 4G, and 5G sub-6 GHz communication applications. The engineered MIMO is made up of four bar-type antenna elements orthogonally placed on the front side of an FR4 material of dimension 41 mm $\times $ 41 mm $\times $ 1.6 mm. The ground plane of the MIMO is altered to a defected one to have an impedance band of 2.64 - 6.52 GHz. The antenna achieved an isolation of more than 21 dB over the entire working band. The designed antenna also has a low ECC (less than 0.032), high diversity gain (more than 9.99 dB), and a peak gain of 3.3 dBi. These advantageous features make the engineered antenna very suitable for 5G sub-6 GHz (3.3-5.0 GHz), WiFi (3.6/4.9/5/5.9/6 GHz), WiMAX, and WLAN bands.
