Abstract
A method is proposed to obtain a power system simulation model using the transmission system data made available by ENTSO-E, the European Network of Transmission System Operators, in the Common Information Model (CIM). The most relevant characteristics of the CIM are briefly described, and the procedure to convert the original data into a simulation model is described. The proposed method is a Python program that reads the original data in CGMES format from CIM/XML files and writes the simulation model for two different applications: open-source Python module pandapower and commercial software PSS/E. Examples of power flows with both tools are provided.
