Abstract
Phase-gradient metasurfaces have proven their ability to enable an unprecedented control over the reflected and transmitted field. However, their angular behavior has been generally neglected even though its proper engineering may introduce additional degrees of freedom to be exploited in practical applications. Here, we discuss the design and the potential applications of non-local refractive metasurfaces able showing a different behavior depending on the incidence angle of the impinging wave. By considering the relevant example of lenses for extending the scan range of phased arrays, it is also shown how the performance of such spatially-dispersive metasurfaces may overcome the one of conventional designs. Full-wave simulations are provided to confirm the innovative features and improved performance of these devices.
