Abstract
Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks (UWSNs) have become an emerging field in the modern communication era. It finds applications in various domains ranging from environmental monitoring to military applications. UWSNs pose many communication challenges. One such important field is routing in UWSNs. The routing protocols proposed for traditional WSNs may not be well suited for underwater applications as UWSNs differ from normal terrestrial networks in number of prospectives. An ample number of routing protocols have been proposed for underwater applications. This paper presents a qualitative analysis of the routing protocols developed for UWSNs proposed in the literature.
