Abstract
A Medminder and Dosette Box (MDB) is a technological solution for dispensing and managing medications in healthcare facilities. This system automates the medication dispensing process, reducing the likelihood of errors and improving patient safety. The MDB comprises a database of patient information, a system for dispensing medications, and a software platform for managing and monitoring the dispensing process. The MDB works by scanning a patient's barcode to verify their identity and retrieving their medication information from the database. The system then dispenses the required medication in the appropriate dosage and records the transaction in the electronic medical record of the patient which eliminates the need for manual record keeping and reduces the risk of errors in dispensing. One of the key advantages of the MDB is that it improves patient safety. By automating the dispensing process, the system eliminates the risk of human error in dispensing medications. It also helps to prevent medication errors such as incorrect dosage, wrong medication, or medication interactions by cross-checking against patient records. The MDB also offers significant benefits to healthcare facilities. It saves time by automating manual processes and reduces the workload of healthcare professionals, freeing up their time for other tasks. The system also improves inventory management by tracking medication usage and ordering supplies as needed.
