Abstract
The integration of photovoltaic (PV) to the grid is continuously increasing. The access to PV and energy storage via power electronics, lacking rotational kinetic energy, decreases the mechanical inertia of the power system. To enhance the dynamic stability of power system frequencies, a control strategy for synchronous generators based on adaptive virtual inertia is proposed. It adaptively adjusts the inertia of the virtual synchronous generator(VSG) control, enhancing the disturbance resistance and overload capacity of power systems. Finally, a simulation model is developed on the MATLAB/Simulink platform to validate the accuracy and efficacy of the adaptive virtual inertia control strategy.
