Abstract
Existing inspection and sanitization approaches were mostly manual, such as security personnel checking patrons' temperatures and custodians regularly cleaning public spaces. To that aim, an automated system that measures body temperature, detects flu symptoms, and sanitizes the environment is a more effective approach to control the infections in public places. This paper presents an automated system to detect flu symptoms and control the sanitization process in closed spaces, such as small hallways and elevators. The proposed method is cheap and effective in detecting flu symptoms. The cost is estimated around USD 283 with off the shelf components. The sneezing and coughing systems reached 86.6% training accuracy. This paper illustrates the proposed design of the system, its design implementation, and finally analysis the obtained results.
