Abstract
In most structural analysis and fatigue calculations of tank car, researchers would directly input the horizontal inertial force of the fluid on the end wall of the tank as the pressure of the tank wall. In fact, the fluid will influences the distribution of pressure on the tank end wall. Especially when the viscosity of the liquid inside tank is sufficient, the shear force on the tank body will be considerable and finally change the force distribution of the tank. The time-domain description of the hydrodynamic drag is used in combination with the conventional boundary conditions when the fluid sloshing and viscosity is taken into consideration. It is shown that the force of the filled tank from the fluid sloshing is not only pressure on the head wall and on the end wall but also on the side wall with resistance along the way.
