Abstract
Due to the requirements of reliability and efficiency for Underwater Acoustic Sensor Networks, a Reliable and Energy Efficient Vector-Based Forwarding Protocol (REE-VBF) is proposed in this paper. Local flooding is the transmission way of data packets, then a set of adaptive selection mechanism proposed for the selection of the optimal nodes with the mark of desire coefficient, transmitting the data packets, and using a time-delayed manner to accomplish the work of route confirmation and inhibit the transmission of duplicate packets depending on the difference among the desire coefficients. Through a simulation comparison of REE-VBF with some other protocols, the conclusion shows that the REE-VBF protocol is suitable for the communication of shallow water acoustic network, and has a better performance on energy efficiency and reliability than others.
