Abstract
The quality of cable insulation in high voltage systems is of important concern. The cable insulation degradation is influenced by service condition and environmental impacts. This paper contributes to the knowledge on the influence of temperature on tan-delta of XLPE cable through an experimental investigation. The laboratory test experiment was conducted on cable samples of 10 meters each with terminations and without terminations at temperature ranges of 20 0 – 70 0 C to evaluate the influence of temperature and terminations on tan-delta. The results show that tan-delta values of XLPE cables are influenced by insulation temperature.
