Abstract
In the Internet of Vehicles (IoVs), data dissemination and collection of traffic data of events by the vehicles is very important. However, it faces some security issues. This paper discusses the use of blockchain in the context of Vehicular Internet of Things to address the security and protection of the data. IoV provides required critical data of the events to the vehicle drivers, whereas blockchain adds security and protection to that data to make the system secure. The objective of this paper is to create a secure framework for IoV with low computational cost. The proposed methodology involves utilizing blockchain innovations to make a decentralized and secure database for vehicle authentication. The participants in the study are vehicles within the scope of a country. The results show that implementing blockchain technology in IoV provides security as well as decreases the time required for authentications as compared to the existing systems. The proposed blockchain solution also improves the scalability and latencies over the existing methods.
