Abstract
Blind or visually impaired people are significantly underrepresented in the academic world. To address this prob-lem, braille technology has been extensively researched. Con-ventional paper-based braille reading systems are expensive, large in size, and yield maintenance problems. In this work, a cost-effective single-cell refreshable braille display prototype is proposed based on micro servos. In the proposed method for refreshable braille display implementation, servo motors are employed and motor sliders are used. Extensive experimentation is conducted to showcase the efficiency, cost, and portability analysis of the system. It operates with a refresh time of 0.3 s and the overall cost is 12$. The outcomes demonstrate that this design can be a superior option for a more straightforward and reasonably priced refreshable braille display implementation.
