Abstract
Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK) has been conducting research on development of advanced terrestrial broadcasting technology to transmit ultra-high definition television (UHDTV) signals and other high capacity content. To analyze the transmission characteristics of the proposed system, we designed an experimental modulator and demodulator, and measured its characteristics through laboratory experiments. We also evaluated the proposed system via large-scale field trials in conditions similar to those of actual broadcast propagation environments. In this paper, we present the results of the laboratory experiments and the field trials.
