Abstract
Multiphase induction machines, known for their higher torque density, improved fault tolerance, and reduced harmonic losses, are well-suited for high-power applications. This paper presents a sequential model predictive torque control approach for a multi-modular direct matrix converter-driven six-phase induction machine. The direct matrix converter offers advantages such as direct AC-AC conversion, unity power factor operation, and low harmonic distortion. Simulation studies demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme in achieving accurate reference tracking for torque, flux, and stator currents. This research advances MPC-based control strategies for DMC applications in multiphase machines.
