Abstract
For a regional power grid lacking conventional black start power source, its black start capability can be improved if new energy power stations, such as wind farms, are able to provide black start service. However, wind turbine (WT) cannot be started without external power source, which limits its participation in black start of power grid. With the increasing application of energy storage system (ESS) in wind farm, it can be used to assist the self-starting of WT. Therefore, this paper proposes a coordinated control strategy of ESS and WT to realize the black start of wind farm. Firstly, as a black start power source, the ESS adopts a two-layer control scheme that consisted of the device and system layer to establish and maintain frequency and voltage of the isolated black start system. Furthermore, the no-load grid-connection control method for WT is adopted to reduce the power impact in the instant of connecting the WT to the system. The rationality and validity of the proposed control strategy is verified with the dynamic simulation for black start process of wind farm.
