Abstract
The operation of an electric machine in electric vehicles (EV) needs to be very efficient. In that goal, this work investigates an induction machine where the conventional rotor conductors are replaced by superconductors. The resulted machine is partially superconducting, but the use of superconductors on the rotor will induce an unconventional behavior. Indeed, a synchronous operation is possible with some trapped current due to the zero resistivity of the superconductors, enhancing also the overall efficiency of the machine. After a presentation of the experimental setup, the efficiency map is calculated in two different ways. Both results are obtained from experimental data.
