Abstract
This paper presents the design and evaluation of an Outer-Rotor Permanent-Magnet Flux-Switching (ORPM-FS) machine. A brief overview of relevant operating principles is given first. To realize the design objectives of high-torque capability, low-torque ripple, high efficiency, and high reliability, a new multilevel design optimization method is proposed to conduct the multi-objectives optimization. Finally, a prototype machine is built to verify the validity of the proposed design method and machine performance.
