Abstract
Enhancing functional safety of industrial Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) becomes critical especially when systems operate to carryout critical tasks in autonomous modes. Industrial functional safety of WSN can be augmented by leveraging Quality of Service (QoS) metrics. In this paper we will be discussing a statistical approach evolved for real time compliance assessment of WSN to industrial functional safety integrity levels (SIL) using the QoS metrics. The safety assessment approach is illustrated by simulating QoS metrics such as Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR) and Packet Receive Ratio (PRR). The assessment methodology evolved is flexible and can be suitably modified to serve multiple sectors including but not limited to industrial, automotive, and aerospace.
