Abstract
In this paper the hydrothermal scheduling problem is solved in MINLP environment using a recently developed BONMIN solver. The system is modeled considering various practical situation like unit commitment condition or inter-temporal limitations and also as a novel approach the transmission loss is incorporated in the formulation by accurate loss evaluation. As the GAMS environment is incapable of efficiently calculate the loss of the transmission network, MATLAB is used to calculate the transmission loss of the system and the optimization tool for GAMS software is used to optimize the system. There are many algorithm which has been used on similar condition but for a system as complicated as the problem considered in this research is not solved before as efficiently. The proposed solution technique is tested against a test system in two different scenario. Although there are two more system which are tested but due to space limitation, is not shown. The experimental results are compared with some heuristic as well as meta-heuristic algorithms and MINLP algorithm with BONMIN solver is found to be most proficient in terms of solution quality and convergence.
