Abstract
The paper describes a novel approach to building a portable heart monitoring device capable of sending data to a remote server in real-time; that can be visualized by the medical professional to get an instantaneous overview of patients’ health conditions. The prototype is equipped with Cellular-IoT modules (NB-IoT and LTE-M), which allow us to monitor heart activity indoors and outdoors, helping patients be more assured while performing their day-to-day tasks. The device uses Maxim Heart Monitor to collect the heart data and sends it to the microcontroller using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). The device then processes this data and sends it to a remote server, which is further processed and stored in a time-series database. The server then allows medical professionals to visualize the stored data in real-time and from the old recordings using a tool called Grafana.
