Abstract
In the present time the efficiency of ice melting schemes, using on substations in the Russian Federation is determined by calculated melting time with calculated current and thickness of the ice couple wall at set weather conditions. This method does not consider changing wind velocity on the overhead transmission line route. It also does not allow to make the conclusion about efficiency of ice melting under other weather conditions and it is impossible to compare objectively various versions of ice melting schemes by this method. The practical way of determination of ice melting schemes efficiency is offered. This method based on the integrated indicator developed by the authors. The method can be applied for the section of the overhead transmission line, consisting of sections with different types of wires and for an electrical network or the detached area. The ways of increase efficiency of ice melting schemes with direct current and alternating current existing on substations are considered. The method of increase efficiency of ice melting in electrical networks of 35–110 kV using the universal ice melting installations on nodal substations was offered. The concrete example is shown.
