Abstract
This study aims at analyzing the force batters exert during swings and emphasizes the importance of data-driven training, including grip strength, swing movement information, and posture. We combined existing devices to collect data, such as swing movement detectors and high-speed cameras. Therefore, we have developed a smart baseball bat with grip strength and motion detection modules to analyze the correlation between grip strength, swing movement, and hitting performance, thus improving hitting practice efficiency. The research mainly focuses on indoor settings using pitching machines or batting tees, and modifications have improved data collection stability. We found that force magnitude is not the main factor affecting hitting performance, but that the timing of force application has a significant impact and can help improve hitting ability.
