Abstract
A microstrip comb-line antenna is designed and fabricated for the purpose of fixed frequency electronic beam scanning at 2.4 GHz. Electronic beam steering is achieved by using DC biased varactor diodes connected to the comb-line. The antenna achieves 4° to 46° backward beam scanning with respect to bore sight with increasing bias voltage of the varactor diode. Over the scan range, measured gain varies between 5.4 and 7.7 dBi with the return loss always below 20 dB.
