Abstract
With the advent of advanced technologies there has been a spike in the online accounts, which leads to the need of authentication to verify the identity of a user. Authentication is essentials to prevent cyber-attacks. Current technologies possess several loopholes which can be exploited to fake the identity of a user plus the risks associated with centralized authentication system can be easily tackled by using a distributed and decentralized blockchain based solution. Blockchain based user authentication is more safe than traditional system as the records for each user will be stored on blockchain and there will be no need to produce keys or similar data each time when authentication is requested. Blockchain based solution can also resolve issues related to authentication of device identity for secure communication in Internet of Things (IoT) as well as role-based access can be implements.
