Abstract
This paper considers the design of state estimators for interconnected systems where in it may not be feasible to measure the complete interaction vector to each subsystem. Unbiased estimates are obtained by allowing the various local filters to exchange the minimal information required for constructing estimates of the interaction vectors. The optimization of such a structure via an existing coordination algorithm is discussed and a numerical example is presented.
