Abstract
this paper proposes the use of Equilibrium Optimizer (EO), African Vultures (AVOA) and Gorilla Troops (GTO) recently developed optimization techniques to solve the problem of finding optimal placement and sizing of shunt capacitor banks in radial distribution system. The objective is to meet hourly load variations within specified cost, equality and inequality constraints. IEEE 33-bus and 69-bus standard radial distribution networks are used to test the robustness of the proposed algorithms. As first step, these methods are applied to the most candidate buses, which are selected based on the voltage profile of the test system. Then, obtained results are compared with each other to identify the best tool in terms of solution quality and convergence features. Test results show that EO algorithm supplies higher quality solutions.
