Abstract
In this paper, a novel miniature rectenna for large-scale rectenna arrays is proposed, and its characteristics are evaluated by simulation and measurement. As the proposed rectenna integrates a rectifier in a microstrip antenna element, miniaturization is achieved with a simple structure. The antenna element used in the proposed rectenna provides the similar antenna gain with conventional rectangular microstrip antennas. The conversion efficiency of 28.1% was obtained under the condition of $0.68-W/m^{2}$ power density. The proposed miniature rectenna can easily realize large-scale rectenna arrays by simply connecting the ground conductor on the back.
