Abstract
The current escalation in the price of electricity together with the fulfilment of sustainable development objectives are promoting the implementation of generation systems based on renewable energies. In this sense, photovoltaic self-consumption systems can be presented as an energy solution to cover electricity consumption in buildings, such as educational centers, where the consumption is generally carried out during solar hours. At the same time, these educational centers have periods of low or almost zero consumption coinciding with weekends and holidays during which they can feed all the energy generated into the electricity grid. The aim of this work is to study the energy viability of photovoltaic self-consumption systems and to analyze their potential for covering electricity consumption in this type of buildings.
