Abstract
Monitoring patients with infectious diseases is a major concern of health care workers as these diseases are contagious. Existing wired observation and monitoring stations are quite inconvenient for the patients. However, a wireless RF monitoring system can be introduced for monitoring as well as to avoid contact with these patients. Oscillators are one of the most basic essential building blocks of RF transceiver applications specially in frequency synthesizer circuits. This paper presents the design of a three-stage single-ended ring oscillator for RF transceiver. The circuit was designed in 50 nm CMOS technology with a frequency of 2.5 GHz with a power consumption of only 0.18 mW. The oscillation frequency was attained with a supply voltage of 1 V. Such a CMOS ring oscillator will be a handy module for PLL based frequency synthesizer of an internet of things (IoT) based disease monitoring applications
