Abstract
Power Electronics system made tremendous advances in recent past in multiple segments e.g. Electric vehicles, Data Servers, Industrial power, Grid infrastructure, Solar etc. This requires the need for flexible & efficient solution to support real time control loop at lowest system cost. The existing solutions consists of multiple components consisting of host microcontroller and many instances of control processors based on complexity of control & network topology resulting costlier system. The cost reduction drives the integration of host micro-controller with controls processors along with richer peripheral set for sensing and actuations. This paper present flexible and efficient solution using AM26x microcontroller that supports both real time control along with host processing in a single chip. The solution contains many innovative features namely, event chaining crossbar (xbar), multi-core architecture with virtual peripheral grouping, feature rich PWM Module and host integration. The proposed solution addresses various needs of digital power control and motor control. The proposed solution is prototyped for traction invertor. The real-time performance of control loop is 3.9 usec, which is less than 1% for overall processing power for 10Krpm along with host function.
