Abstract
A series combiner fed antenna array for wireless energy harvesting applications is proposed here. The isolation resistor of the Wilkinson power combiner is replaced by a series combiner and the difference power flow due to unequal received power at the antenna is used for simulatenous dynamic alignment. A dual port microstrip loop is used here as the series combiner and also as a feed to the aperture coupled rectenna elements that are placed in two planes with an angle of 120° in between. The structure was simulated in 3D EM solver of ANSYS HFSS and a gain of 7.16 dBi was observed when the feeds are separately excited. The series combiner action is also validated.
