Abstract
A self-complementary microstrip radiator (SCMR) is proposed in this article. The structure can be used for compact systems due to the series power combiner action of the dual-port antenna. A commercial 3D EM solver is used to simulate the antenna structure, and results demonstrate a gain above 2.5 dBi at the boresight directions for a frequency range of 1.65 GHz to 3.35 GHz. Due to the self-complementary structure, the antenna offers combiner action for a wider bandwidth of 1.6 GHz to 2.6 GHz. Thanks to its inherent power combining feature, the proposed SCMR can be used for RF energy harvesting applications when integrated with a resistance compression network.
