Abstract
At the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea, an underwater multidisciplinary research infrastructure is under construction. This infrastructure called IDMAR (Infrastruttura multidisciplinare Distribuita sul MAre) will allow the completion of terrestrial and submarine infrastructures capable of hosting submarine scientific research infrastructures such as KM3NeT (www.km3net.org) and EMSO ERIC (www.emso-eu.org). Due to the long distance and the big amount of data is mandatory to use the fibre optics as physical medium for data transmission. The description of the optical transmission system in the junction box and in the shore station infrastructure is presented.
