Abstract
In the aerospace industry, use of electricity for electrical propulsion and introduction of electrical power chains with hundreds of kilowatts is on track. It is expected that power converters will generate large electromagnetic conducted emissions and keeping them under aeronautical standard limit ED14 is only possible by using heavy and bulky EMI filters. On the other hand, EMI active filters for low power applications showed very good performance thanks to the processing capabilities of digital chips (FPGA). Thus, there is a good opportunity for weight saving and installation constraints mitigation by using this strategy. This paper presents a new approach with the introduction of active EMI filters in low and high power chains composed of a DC power source, an inverter, an electrical motor and cables.
