Abstract
A new one-dimensional model of MEA is developed, where the transport phenomena in the catalyst layer are modeled as boundary conditions for the adjacent layers, GDL and membrane. This approach can avoid the computational burden and maintain accurately the mass balance in the catalyst layer, the most complicated part of MEA. This model includes heat transfer and the phase change of water. This model is validated with experiment.
