Abstract
The increasing use of Electric Vehicles in consumer and commercial markets is transforming the electricity generation and distribution infrastructure and automotive transportation infrastructure. The use of electric vehicles reduces the pollution levels to a great extent. However, a dramatic increase of Electric Vehicles and resultant imbalance in quantity of dedicated charging stations has brought forth issues pertaining to the power quality control of the charging infrastructure. The performance of grid-integrated or freestanding renewable power sources, as well as smart-grid electrical transmission networks built for Electric Vehicle charging operations, is impacted by power quality constraints. This paper discusses different optimization techniques for Electric Vehicle charging topologies and different types of energy storage systems operating in the context of the unpredictability of renewable energy sources.
