Abstract
Nowadays radio frequency electromagnetic field exposure in urban environment is an important topic due to a large number of electromagnetic waves emitted by antennas that vary in intensity throughout the day. The main objective of this research was to establish if the exposure level of electromagnetic field from different areas (three sites specifically) was within the ICNIRP (International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection) limits. The measurement method used was frequency selective on 420 MHz - 3 GHz frequency range. The results demonstrated that the surface power density ranges from 0.04 mW/m2 to 0.24 mW/m2, with a maximum value of 0.30 V/m for the total electric field and a minimum value of 0.12 V/m. The highest measured values were obtained on building roof top location, which were attributed to the large number of antennas present at the site. The report concluded that, the results are below those indicated by international standards.
