Abstract
In the modern surgical operation, some energy devices are employed for hemostasis (tissue coagulation) and dissection. They are an electrical scalpel and an ultrasonically activated scalpel. These devices are essential surgical tools. However, there are some problems should be improved. Therefore, energy devices using the microwave energy have been investigated to improve the problems of practical devices. In this study, new algorithm is developed for calculating the coagulated region on biological tissue and can evaluate the performances of the device. Moreover, to confirm the validity of the proposed method, the calculated result is compared with experimental findings.
