Abstract
The thermal endurance of poly(butyleneterephthalate) is evaluated by both long-term conventional life tests and resorting to an analytical procedure, which is based on oxidative stability measurements and allows the test times to be remarkably shortened. The results obtained by the two methods are compared. It is shown that the analytical procedure can provide a temperature index very close to that derived by the conventional tests, once the test temperatures have been appropriately selected.
